Friends and associates,
I’m sure by now the suspense is killing you…”Is there gonna be a Democrats meeting this week? Well, is THERE?!” I’m happy to put your fears to rest, because yes, we’re having a meeting and it should be awesome!
THIS WEEK’S MEETING: Aaron Thompson, Utah State Director for Richardson for President, former National Communications Director for the College Democrats of America
Thursday, November 28, 2007
240 SWKT
7:00 - 8:30 PM
We’re excited to welcome Aaron Thompson to campus. He’s currently running New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson’s campaign in Utah, and brings great insight into the blistering presidential campaign environment with him. He has also served as National Communications Director for the College Democrats of America, so if you’ve ever wondered why kids our age aren’t involved in politics, and what you can do to change that, Aaron’s the man to ask! Bring your questions about politics, Bill Richardson, the presidential election, college activism, and any other issues, and enjoy a great discussion!
NEXT WEEK: “SICKO” Screening with the Young Democrats of Utah
Come join the Young Democrats of Utah to see a free screening of “SICKO,” get free pizza and drinks, hear informed panelists, and get involved. This is an excellent film that even Fox News has called “Brilliant and Uplifting¹.” As this documentary points out, the U.S. is ranked 37th in the world as a health system by the World Health Organization² . It’s time for us as students to be informed about this subject and more importantly, to do something about it.
6:00 p.m. Friday, December 7th in room 309 of the
Provo Library (550 N University Ave )

Honestly, what’s better on a Friday night than pizza with Provo progressives and Michael Moore?! And for those of you who think Moore may be a bit off his rocker but haven’t seen the movie, come watch, listen to the panelist discussion, and bring up your questions. And in case you think we don’t support the aims of a BYU education, we fully encourage you to lean over to that cute guy or girl that sits next to you in American Heritage that you’ve been meaning to ask out all semester and get them to come with you. Tell them about the free pizza. That helps.
DEMOCRATS BOOTH AND RECYCLING PLASTIC BOTTLES:
We’ll have the BYU democrats booth up tomorrow and Friday, so come by and say hi! Also, we’ll be taking your plastic bottles for recycling, so pull the stash you’ve been hoarding in your roommate’s closet and bring ‘em down.
U.S. CITIZENSHIP TEST PREPARATION CLASS:
We teach a class at the Dixon Middle School Community Outreach Center that helps legal resident immigrants prepare to take the U.S. Citizenship Class. This is a very rewarding, fun service opportunity, and you really make a difference. Our first student to take the test, Adita, will be taking the test today, and believe me when I say seeing someone take that step in life is very, very cool. So come help out! We teach classes Mondays, from 5-6:30pm, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm. You don’t need any expertise in U.S. civics or any foreign language skills to help. The center can also use volunteers in its English classes, which happen at the same time, so come help with that too. Oh, and Dixon Middle School is on the corner of 800 West and 200 South, come through the doors on the west side of the building.

I’m sick and tired of you democrats’ lies and deceptions. This post claims to have been written by “- darren”, but it was really posted by Diana! I won’t rest until I’ve exposed you to the world as the dirty hypocrites and liars that you are!
but seriously, this stuff all sounds way fun. At first I was all bummed because I thought the Sicko thing was this Friday, which would mean I couldn’t make it, but when I realized it’s next Friday so I can make it, I was happy.
