Things Republicans list as wasteful in the economic stimulus
This is off of CNN.com with my own commentary added
• $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees. (clearly republicans hate emission control)• $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control to screen and prevent STD’s. (people with STD’s apparently don’t deserve help)• $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs. (do rural people even vote? Why help them?)• $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. (shouldn’t Mormons love this?)• $75 million for “smoking cessation activities.” (yeah…smokers should be punished not helped)• $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges. (I also hate helping kids learn)• $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction. (I am seeing a theme of not helping people with problems)• $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River. (last time we didn’t try to prevent flooding I seem to remember things going really really bad)• $6 billion to turn federal buildings into “green” buildings. (apparently republicans hate anything that helps the environment)• $500 million for state and local fire stations. (and they seem to hate stopping fires too)• $650 million for wildland fire management on forest service lands. (yeah… let America burn EXCEPT FOR THE FLAG)• $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint. (I think they got high off of the lead-based paint so I see why they do not want to prevent it)
