Fighting World Poverty
If you’re interested, there’s teleconference with Mohammed Yunus (involved in micro-credit) on campus this Saturday. Here’s the details:
The next teleconference meeting of the Central Utah chapter of Results will be held in room 2198 JFSB on BYU campus at noon on Saturday, January 12th. I’m excited to let you know that the speaker will be Muhammed Yunus. Please plan to stay until about 1:30 for refreshments and to discuss local issues and to do some beginning-of-year planning.
These monthly Saturday meetings are an opportunity for our local group to listen to internationally recognized leaders in the development area, along with national discussion. Usually we spend a few minutes strategizing about local actions after the phone call. The purpose of Results is to create nonpartisan public & political will to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. These meetings are a great opportunity to get educated on the public and political issues related to hunger, poverty, and self-reliance, both internationally and domestically. They are also an opportunity to meet other people who are interested in these issues. Everyone is welcome.
