Debate 1 Facts

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

There were a lot of claims being made in the first debate.  Factcheck.org, a nonpartisan, nonprofit group is a great site for those that want the truth when McCain and Obama start throwing facts around.  Here is a link for the first Presidential Debate setting things straight.  http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_debate_no_1.html

Points of view on Prop. 8

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

For those of you following the debate, a couple of interesting notes from California’s debate on gay marriage and Proposition 8:

Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzanegger’s reasoning on why he opposes Proposition 8…

…and a LA Times Op-ed from a liberal Democrat who supports it:

This is not about endorsing or opposing either viewpoint, just expanding the discussion. Interesting to see how positions on social issues don’t always follow party lines. Whatever our political affiliation, we should always be ready to consider alternative viewpoints, because when we close our eyes, ears, and mind, democracy dies.

My new best friend…

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I’m in DC this semester doing an internship at an undisclosed location (I’m not allowed to say where on the internet due to google issues, but just know it is very cool) and look who I got set up a mic for a press event for!

I wouldn’t have gotten this awesome gig without my involvement in the BYU dems, so thanks for all the good times! I’ll see you in January!

In essence, schooling conservatives makes them more stupid. From the Washington Post article on the study, which came out yesterday:
